American Citizens Abroad (ACA)
Though US citizens living abroad retain the rights and responsibilities of any US citizen – voting in federal elections and paying taxes – they face unique challenges and difficulties, often worsened by tax legislation.
American Citizens Abroad (ACA) strategic location in Washington, D.C. empowers them to regularly engage with Congress. Their mission is to educate and advocate directly to legislators on Capitol Hill and the Administration. Additionally, ACA collaborates with the Americans Abroad Caucus, a legislative body dedicated to improving the lives of US citizens living and working abroad through legislative and regulatory changes.
ACA offers membership to U.S. citizens living and working overseas. The membership comes with several benefits, including:
access to state-side banking services through the State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) - if you have a hard time keeping your U.S. bank accounts open, this is the solution
regular updates on advocacy work in Washington D.C.,
access to Wise-Traveler for competitive pricing on hotel and resort rooms, and
membership in the Royal Overseas League with reduced entrance fees.
For more detailed information and to apply for membership for a small yearly fee, you can visit the ACA website.
